Rhizosphere Microbes Influence Host Circadian Clock Function

چکیده
The circadian clock is an important determinant of fitness that entrained by local conditions. Aside from abiotic factors, individual pathogenic soil bacteria affect function in plant hosts. Yet, nature, plants interact with diverse microbial communities, and the effect complex communities on remains unclear. In Arabidopsis thaliana its wild relative, Boechera stricta, we used rhizosphere inoculates host genotypes to test clock. A. intact microbiome expressed a period closer 24 h duration significantly shorter (by 48 min average) relative grown disrupted microbiome. Wild-type differed sensitivity microbes, one genotype (Landsberg erecta) expressing 119-min difference length across treatments. A similar pattern microbes was observed B. stricta. Finally, collected mutant toc1-21 short-period phenotype as inoculate shortened long-period ztl-1. results indicate function.

Measuring circadian clock function in human cells.
Circadian clocks are present in most cells and are essential for maintenance of daily rhythms in physiology, mood, and cognition. Thus, not only neurons of the central circadian pacemaker but also many other peripheral tissues possess the same functional and self-sustained circadian clocks. Surprisingly, however, their properties vary widely within the human population. In recent years, this cl...
متن کاملDevelopmental alcohol and circadian clock function.
Studies in rats found that alcohol exposure during the early postnatal period, particularly during the brain-growth-spurt period, can result in cell loss in various brain regions and persistent behavioral impairments. Some investigators have speculated that the body's internal clock, which is located in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) in the brain, may also be affected by developmental alcohol...
متن کاملCIRCADIAN CLOCK ASSOCIATED1 and LATE ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL function synergistically in the circadian clock of Arabidopsis.
The circadian clock is an endogenous mechanism that coordinates biological processes with daily and seasonal changes in the environment. Heterodimerization of central clock components is an important way of controlling clock function in several different circadian systems. CIRCADIAN CLOCK ASSOCIATED1 (CCA1) and LATE ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL (LHY) are Myb-related proteins that function in or close to...
متن کاملHost circadian clock as a control point in tumor progression.
BACKGROUND The circadian timing system controlled by the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus regulates daily rhythms of motor activity and adrenocortical secretion. An alteration in these rhythms is associated with poor survival of patients with metastatic colorectal or breast cancer. We developed a mouse model to investigate the consequences of severe circadian dysfunction upon tu...
متن کاملThe circadian clock within the heart: potential influence on myocardial gene expression, metabolism, and function.
It is becoming increasingly clear that the intrinsic properties of both the heart and vasculature exhibit dramatic oscillations over the course of the day. Diurnal variations in the responsiveness of the cardiovascular system to environmental stimuli are mediated by a complex interplay between extracellular (i.e., neurohumoral factors) and intracellular (i.e., circadian clock) influences. The i...
